A Paintbrush is of course the most universal tool in the application of oil colour. Often times, because I paint mostly with brushes, I tend to forget that there are other ways to apply paint to a surface.

Some of them are,

Palette Knives

Palette knives have always been the traditional oil paint mixing tool. Its true, they are ideal for creating smooth, consistent mixtures of paint and medium.

Stencils

Stenciling is not a traditional oil painting method. Especially when the concept calls for a repetitive effect or stylized shape, stencils are very helpful.

Rags, Sponges, Fingers

one could create an entire oil painting using rags and/or sponges. Again, the fat over lean rule always applies, so keep that in mind when experimenting in any new technique. If painting with any part of your body, like your fingers, make sure you realize that oil colour and solvents will absorb into your skin and then into your bloodstream if not protected.

The workshop turned out to be a transforming experience. Although demanding, she “learned heaps of important lessons.” Ms Byrom says, “I was able to really see and experience what I was painting and convey that to the canvas. I started to paint a state of mind—not a replication of a scene.”

The best weather to do her work is a cool, moderate temperature and “it's nice if there is some sun.” She says each season has its own challenges. Paints may dry too quick on the palette in the summer and stiffen in colder climes.

Not every outing results in an canvas oil painting. Ms Byrom makes use of her sketchbook. “I do a lot of sketching when I am on location. This helps me make a choice about my composition and it is often the case that there is more than one good painting that can be produced from one location.”

Art is the process or result of purposely arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a varied range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music and literature. The sense of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.

The definition and evaluation of art has become particularly problematic since the early 20th century. Richard Wollheim distinguishes three approaches: the Realist, whereby visual quality is an absolute value independent of any human view; the Objectivist, whereby it is also an absolute value, but is reliant on general human experience; and the Relativist position, whereby it is not an absolute value, but depends on, and varies with, the human experience of different humans.

An object may be characterized by the intentions, or lack of its creator, regardless of its clear purpose. Traditionally, the word art was used to refer to any skill or mastery. This formation changed during the Romantic period, when art came to be seen as "a special faculty of the human mind to be classified with religion and science”. Generally, art is made with the intention of stimulating thoughts and emotions.

In painting, the existing that represents the fantastic is called surrealism. It is an artistic existing, which emerged in Europe after the First World War, whose purpose is to explore the unconscious mind, celebrating the virtues of the irrational. Surrealistic painting is meant to trigger nervousness, to frighten through a strange feeling that reveals the unexpected.

Taking into consideration that the fantastic image, which is the effect of dream and reality, is more relevant than the extraordinary reality, surrealistic painters look for unconsidered connections between real things, which they produce in a realistic manner. However, the whole work does not belong any more to the reality, but to a rambling imaginary world.

Surrealism proves to be the most representative existing that comprehends the fantastic in its complete form. The mysteries that plastic artists try to represent, especially painting - part of arts that can reflect the most evidently the mystery of the artist - will be presented through intertwining of crowded networks of images and analogies. They will try therefore to capture the depths and the enigmas of the reality in its plenitude and in the misty shapes, exploring all the facets of the real world.

The color of a room in your home affects how you feel while you’re in that room. Rugs, furniture, window treatments and any other fabrics that are going to remain in the room should be the starting point for your color scheme. Repainting walls and ceilings is a comparatively inexpensive way to change the look of a room without starting completely over. Choose three to four colors at the most and support those colors on what will go with the room furnishings.

Take into thought that the ceiling does not have to be white. Typically, ceilings are the lightest paint color in a room since lighter colors give the feeling of more space and darker colors tend to visually "lower" the ceiling, giving the room a smaller, more close and cozy feel. The same applies with darker colors on walls which make the room seem smaller while lighter colors make the room seem larger.

In general, each color has its own beauty but the choice of colors in your home is very personal and only you can say what works best for you. Instead of painting a whole room, why not we try out a splash of it on a wall for just a bit and see if you like it. Else go for other options and check it out in all the possible ways that it will receive light throughout a day. A new color scheme is a good investment not only in your home but also in your personal happiness.

Paint stripping can be easy when the right solution is applied to the task of removing paint. There is an innovative new product on the market which makes the job more manageable and that is an Infrared heat guns. The infrared paint stripper harnesses radiant heat to gently, quickly and very efficiently formulate removing paint a far easier job.

The Infrared heat softens paint quickly and effectively, making it easier to rub off. It has been tested at a College of Vocational Excellence where the heat gun detached over 200 layers of paint or varnish in as little as 30 seconds. Not only removes the paint but also leave the substrate completely clean and dry so you can immediately paint newly over it, this in turn save lot of time.

There are hands free devices allowing the user to take paint off by mounting the gun on a stand such that you can use both hands. Paint stripping with an Infrared heat guns is particularly beneficial on older buildings where it is recommended because the paint is removed using a mild process and actually rejuvenating wooden substrate making it the most environmentally friendly way of stripping paint.
